WHAT WE'RE LISTENING TO NOW

March 18, 2020

Podcasts are one of our favorite ways to consume content when we're on the go!

Whether you enjoy learning about business, personal development, health, news or a deep-dive into a favorite hobby or pastime, there is a podcast out there for any topic you can imagine.

Our team has weighed-in on some of our favorites:

Courtney
"Business Wars" and "Spectacular Failures" are two of Courtney's favorite business related podcasts. "Business Wars discusses the history of popular businesses, and her favorite episodes are "Netflix versus Blockbuster" and "Marvel versus DC." "Spectacular Failures" is all about big businesses gone wrong and what they could have done to avoid failure. The U-Haul episode was her hands-down favorite. Courtney listens to podcasts with her family in the car, on the way to grandma's or during Sunday morning breakfast. The podcasts always inspire discussion and lively conversations!

Jocelyn
"Hidden Brain" and "Invisibilia" are two of Jocelyn's favorite podcasts because they both make you use your noggin! Best of all, the kids enjoy them too, and it's a great way to connect intellectually as a family during car rides or while making dinner. The "Invisibilia" episode entitled, "How to Become Batman" is her personal favorite. It explores how expectations affect the people around you, and how thinking differently and more openly can increase the world of possibilities!

Emily
"How I Built This With Guy Raz" is Emily's favorite podcast because it explores the mindset of successful entrepreneurs to understand where they came from, how they got started, and how they preserved to make it where they are today. She initially started listening to this podcast to have a better understanding of her clients' challenges, but she has become personally inspired by their stories. Her favorite episodes feature Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, Chesapeake, Bay Candle, Milk Bar, Barabara Corcoran, and Stoneyfield Yogurt. She listens whenever she gets a chance - while folding laundry, making dinner, or while at the gym.

Lori
Lori enjoys "The Way I Heard if With Mike Rowe," a series of short mysteries for the curious mind with a short attention span. She likes the episodes because they are short, intriguing stories that keep her guessing until the very end. She usually listens while in the car.

Sally
To sharpen her foreign language skills, Sally listens to "News in Slow French," a podcast where two hosts discuss the week's top stories from France and around the world at a slower than average speaking rate. She enjoys it because it's real news, so she doesn't feel like she's doing homework, and it improves her French listening skills. The podcast provides a written script, too, so she can listen and read it at the same time. Being a visual learner, this is especially helpful.

Erik
Erik is a fan of the Dax Shepard podcasts. Dax interviews authors and celebrities (such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Drew Carey, Will Arnett and others) and asks deep and personal questions to learn more about their feelings and issues. One of his favorite episodes was an interview with American novelist Jonathan Safran Foer discussing climate change. Since he has a short commute to work, Erik listens to the podcast on longer trips.

Alison
A self-proclaimed podcast addict, Alison listens to podcasts during her morning workouts, her commute to and from work, and while traveling to her commitments during the workday. Her favorites are "The Time Ferriss Show," "Masters of Scale," "How I Built This," "Ten Percent Happier," and "The Drive." She enjoys learning about business, wellness, self-improvement, sports, leadership and management. The podcasts introduce her to interesting people, and she is grateful for the amazing things she has learned by having access to brilliant and creative thinkers.

Annie
Annie enjoys listening to podcasts while in the car, and her personal favorite is, "The Dark Side of..." because it combines two subjects she has always been fascinated with: history and Hollywood. Her favorite episode was a behind the scenes making of "The Wizard of Oz." She's a fan of any true crime podcast she can get her ears on, from serial killers to Jeffrey Epstein.
