WE'VE MOVED - GERBER HAS A NEW HEADQUARTERS!
Don’t drop by to see us at our Nationwide Blvd location—we won’t be there! We relocated our company headquarters to the historic Smith Bros’ Hardware Building on September 20! It took four months to renovate, and we’re happy and relieved to finally be settling in.
We had been at our 121 E Nationwide Blvd location since July of 2012 and it served us well. We simply outgrew the 6,166 square foot office, and began a search for a space that could accommodate our growth.
We found it at Smith Bros, an iconic building that’s been part of the Columbus City skyline for nearly 100 years.
Our client and the building’s manager, CAPITOL EQUITIES, helped us create a large, open space that matches our brand. The 13,352 square foot office can accommodate our firm’s anticipated growth, and its open floor plan allows our team to be visible to clients. There are also plenty of private meeting areas for confidentiality.
We were happy to hire two talented firms—who also happen to be our clients—to make the office our own. CROW WORKS, who has done a lot of design work for clients such as Starbucks and California Pizza Kitchen, and EDGEWORK CREATIVE, who specializes in custom-made products, provided our décor and furniture.
We also worked with WSA STUDIOS, to design six spacious conference rooms, three private “phone booth” rooms, eight offices and 25 open seating areas for our team.
Few people may remember the Smith Bros building in its glory days. It’s more likely you remember it as the city’s eyesore before it was beautifully renovated. Here are some fun facts about the building’s rich history:
· The historic SMITH BROS HARDWARE COMPANY was originally constructed in 1929
· During the 1940s and 1950s, it was one of the largest hardware distribution companies in the Midwest.
· Many of its original features—the central location, 10-foot reinforced concrete floors, and wrap-around windows—make it an attractive office space today.
· The building had to undergo massive renovation over the years, but much of the original structure was maintained. This includes the entry arch over the main entrance, the Smith Bros banner sign that wraps around the outside of the building, the divided light windows, the exposed brick walls, and the concrete pillars.
We’re settling in, and just like any other move, it’s not been without its interesting stories. We had to use our creativity and think outside the box to get certain items into the office that were larger than the elevator. Who would have thought that a conference room table could fit through a window?
Our new location is part of the Italian Village, and is close to the Short North Arts District and the Arena District. We have convenient access to the major highways, plenty of parking, and the Juniper Rooftop Bar as a resource for meetings and team events.
We look forward to showing you our new space, and continuing to serve first-generation entrepreneurs for years to come! Please be sure to change our address to 580 N Fourth Street, Suite 400, Columbus, OH 43215!
And if you drop by this location, we will be there!
